President Xi noted that China always views its relations with the Philippines from a strategic height. During their phone call in May, the two leaders reached a series of important consensus on growing bilateral ties in the new era and identified agriculture, infrastructure, energy and people-to-people exchanges as four priority areas of cooperation. The two sides need to create highlights in coopera-tion and enhance the quality of cooperation to the benefit of their peoples. China will work with the Philippines to carry forward their friendship and cooperation, commit to national development and rejuvenation, and write a new chapter in China-Philippines friendship. 

President Marcos Jr. once again extended congratulations on the success of the 20th National Con-gress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and on President Xi Jinping’s re-election as the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. The Philippines and China share a millennium-long history of friendly exchanges, and bilateral cooperation across the board has made steady progress since the establishment of diplomatic ties. Mutual trust between the two countries is being increasingly strengthened. The Philippines looks forward to working with China to unleash potentials and expand cooperation in an effort to build a more robust and strong bilateral relationship.

The B-I bridge is a flagship project of the “Build, Build, Build” Program and one of the two China-donated Bridges since 2016. The completion and opening to traffic of the B-I bridge marks a milestone for the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and the “Build, Build, Build” Program, which strongly promotes local connectivity and the recovery of the Philippine economy and people’s livelihood.

The Samal Island-Davao City Bridge Project is a flagship project of G-to-G cooperation be-tween China and the Philippines. The Chinese side provides $350 million in preferential loans for the construction of the bridge. The project is expected to be completed in 2027 and will greatly revitalize the economy and tourism potential of Davao City and Samal Island.

In November 2022, the Philippines registered a record $660 million in sales at the Fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE), up by 9.74 percent yearly, achieving its fifth consecutive year of growth.

Four themed events were held successively including the launching ceremony, “Walking into Zhangzhou”, “Walking into Quanzhou” and “Walking into Xia-men”, which aim to help Filipino Chinese get to know today’s China and Chinese civilization, and pro-mote exchanges and mutual learning between China and the Philippines.
