FELIP’s first solo EP is underway.
Following two singles and a series of notable performances as FELIP over the last two years—including a debut at the Recording Academy’s (a.k.a the Grammys) ‘Global Spin’ series, a first for a Filipino artist—the first EP under the solo project of SB19 member Ken is arriving next month, according to the award-winning musician himself.
FELIP made the surprise announcement at midnight of his birthday, January 12, via Twitter. Titled COM•PLEX, the EP is set to arrive on February 3.

SB19 Ken marked his debut as FELIP in his breakthrough single, “Palayo” (Farther) in September 2021. It was named one of HipHopDX Asia’s “20 Best Singles of 2021,” praising its lush left-field R&B direction. He wrote at the time, “We… [hope] that ‘Palayo’ inspires you to love yourself more, especially in times when it’s difficult and painful to do.”
Last year, FELIP returned with his second single, “Bulan,” which was accompanied by a grand mythic visual that, according to FELIP and his team, aims to serve as a “creative interpretation of our nation’s collective memory of Filipino ancient deities. Definitive resources for this aspect of our culture have been destroyed during the colonial period, hence, the goal for this release is to encourage the youth to dig deep, discuss, and keep this aspect of our memory alive for generations to come.”
In July 2022, FELIP became the first Filipino artist to perform at the Recording Academy’s biweekly Global Spin performance series on YouTube, which aims to highlight artists from around the world. At the latter end of last year, joined his fellow members at SB19 in their first world tour, which included stops in Manila, Cebu, Clark, Davao, Singapore, Dubai, New York, and Los Angeles in the United States.
FELIP wrapped up his eventful year and also picked up the Wish Breakthrough Artist of the Year award at the Wish Music Awards 2022, where “Palayo” was also nominated as Wishclusive R&B Performance of the Year.
