THE Manila Times Chairman and CEO Dante Francis Ang 2nd personally received his award as Most Empowered Executive in Journalism at the inaugural edition of the Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards Philippines Men and Women of Integrity and Honor held at the Eurotel Hotel North Edsa ballroom on December 28.
President and COO Blanca Mercado was honored as Outstanding Publication Executive of the Year while columnist Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) head Atty. Persida Rueda Acosta was honored as Most Outstanding Public Servant. Editor Arlo Custodio was Outstanding Journalist of the Year.

Meanwhile, Chairman Emeritus Dr. Dante Arevalo Ang was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Journalism. Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards President and CEO Romm Burlat personally delivered Dr. Ang’s plaque and trophy to his office on Wednesday as he was not able to attend the event.
Burlat emphasized that the organization does not only consider the string of achievements of a Filipino but also his character and untainted image.
“Every Gawad Dangal honoree must be a role model to his co-workers, a best example to his family and a loyal citizen to his country. I consider our chosen winners as cream of the crop, not crop of the cream,” Burlat, a multi-awarded international director, actor and host, said.
