Filipino association hosts festive celebration

Article content

The Filipino Association in Timmins hosted its inaugural Christmas celebration at the Senator Hotel on Saturday night. The event was very well attended with more than 200 tickets sold and $3,000 raised (for the association’s future events) with a raffle and 50/50 draw. The 50/50 winner walked away with over $350. There was social and choreographed dancing for all ages, party games, a visit from Santa, and a buffet of traditional foods, courtesy of Lady Luck Restaurant. DJ services were provided by the Schumacher Lions Club. The Filipino Association in Timmins donated $1,000 to the Stan Fowler Santa Claus Fund this year. “My heart is full,” said Estela Aguilar-Chow, association president.
